SOPHIE: Kurultai record, day 665. Nahema wanted to meet tomorrow, as she imagines she is the devil on my shoulder. But she is not as funny as she thinks. NAHEMA: You do think I'm funny. Correct that. SOPHIE: Nahema is very funny. NAHEMA: You never have any life in these logs. You never say ""I think."" Why? SOPHIE: So now my ecologist cares about the life of people as well as zooplankton? NAHEMA: I love people. It's humans I'm not sure about. SOPHIE: Tell me about the humans. We have Anita's Jubilee feeding off the land now. What will happen to the ecosystem? NAHEMA: This place is missing the primary production it needs to survive. It's hanging on by a thread—eating dead matter. If we fish and forage, the trophic pyramid just collapses faster. SOPHIE: That's not possible. There's so much life— NAHEMA: Life sustained by its own rot. It's a pyramid scheme. SOPHIE: Nahema, we have to build a colony HERE. You know Twinkle's secret. Nobody's coming to save us. How do we complete the mission if the coral gardens are dying? NAHEMA: Did you think I just meant the coral gardens?
"Jubilee using old sleep bay"

TRANSCRIPT DAY 648 CHAP: Sophie, I've got to tell, tell, oh, here I go, go, go, go, go again. SOPHIE: Take your time. Copper poisoning causes chorea and vocal tics. CHAP: Look. My feet move when I talk. I have moves. SOPHIE: Yeah, you do. You can finally dance. Oh, sweetie. Would it help to reprint? CHAP: After I report. The Jubilee group, group, group. Are messing with. Sleep Bay 3. SOPHIE: Anita...well, that means they're starving. They need biobeds to reprint. So much for the Jubilee. CHAP: They cut the cable. From the sleep bay NoA. To ours. SOPHIE: They don't want our NoA to reset them. Print older versions of them from the sleep bay records. CHAP: Would NoA...do that? SOPHIE: Sure. NoA reset Zip. And everyone who goes Masefield. You know that. CHAP: But—all of us? At once? SOPHIE: I suspect that's what happened to the people who built Camp One. CHAP: So all of this could happen — again. Again. Again. Again.

Aberrant NoA Reports

SOPHIE: Kurultai record, day 585. Consultation with chaplain-psychiatrist Lucretia Kapoor about the state of the NoA. Lucretia, say hello. QUAKER: Hello. Would it be appropriate to include Raster and Chap? SOPHIE: Before I ask our computer people to fix NoA, I need to know: what is wrong with it? QUAKER: With it, or with you? SOPHIE: What? QUAKER: Has the NoA failed to perform its tasks? Or do you feel that it's asking too much of us? SOPHIE: I can't afford to have feelings about anyone's behavior. I'm acting on reports that the NoA is erratic. QUAKER: No feelings. Because if you allowed yourself to have feelings, you might disagree with the machine? SOPHIE: This is not why I asked you— QUAKER: Of course it is. You use the NoA as a source of certainty in the face of terror. If the NoA can become delusional and mistaken, so can you. And it can. SOPHIE: The NoA can become delusional? QUAKER: It has no fixed model of reality. It can entertain any madness imaginable and many more you cannot imagine, as long as those delusions help it complete the mission. SOPHIE: So the NoA is insane, but only when it's useful? QUAKER: Are we any different? Anita has invented an entire belief system to justify the angel comb adaptations. Because they are useful. SOPHIE: She's insane too. She's a puppet for the Masefield virus. I can't prove it. But I know it. QUAKER: You see? You do have feelings.
AEP Suit
Tools
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS Step into AEP suit legs. Wiggle hips while drawing suit up to shoulders, then insert hands into suit arms. PDA will automatically configure suit sensors and catheters according to your preference. BACKGROUND The Alterra All Environment Protection suit, or AEP suit (never APE suit), is a second skin for pioneers. —Populated with latest Trans-System Federation nanotechnology to guard against bacterial and fungal threats (can be refreshed with licensed yogurt products) —Bonds with the user's body and implanted PDA to monitor vital signs, hydration and calorie budget —Intuitive neural heads up display —Gel layer protects against soft radiation and temperature —Full-service skincare including rash suppression, pinch clearance and sore lavage. Lotions sold separately —Scavenges dissolved gases from the pioneer's blood to prevent barotrauma (the bends) —Compresses body into ideal movement postures (at some risk to user modesty) and traps air to maintain neutral buoyancy. Suit surface can express microtexture to reduce drag —Constant electrical and optical feedback optimizes biorhythms and helps manage health emergencies The latest and most radical AEP designs include a suction pump on the wrist, which mates with an implanted shunt in the pioneer's body to sample alien tissues. Please consult your onboarding waiver for the Advance Resilient Colonist Holobiont Infrastructure program (ARCHI) for technical details of adapting your body to alien worlds. "All Environment Protection: the only starship you can wear." CHANGELOG: Removed "get a thicker skin" slogan after legal challenges regarding implied emotional control. The AEP suit does not offer mental health services or workplace counseling.
Aero Cyst
[PLACEHOLDER] Is it air or is it liquid? Is it both? You never knew a cyst could taste this soft and fluffy. You might never have thought about eating a cyst...and yet, here you are.
Air Bladder
Tools
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS Equip to quick-access toolbelt. Trigger to shoot to the surface. Use alternate trigger to inhale 15 seconds of oxygen. BACKGROUND The reusable air bladder is a self-rescue and mobility tool for shallow water divers. —Internal pump (the same unit used by the All Environment Respiration tank) stores pressurized air —Trigger the unit to release air into bladders, inflating them to full buoyancy —Maintain a tight grip while the bladder lifts you to the surface If the diver strikes an obstacle (such as a cave roof) the unit will automatically halt its ascent to avoid trapping the diver. Bite down on the relief valve to inhale stored air, providing around fifteen seconds of extended consciousness. If you experience sharp joint pains after ascending with the air bladder, you are suffering barotrauma ("the bends"). Your AEP suit should correct this issue automatically. If pain continues, consult a medical specialist or a biobed for treatment options.
Angel Comb
Bloom
This animal (Cecidia gamikos) has no Earthly analog and no clear ecological niche. The ancestral form may be a ctenophore (comb jelly). Of all animals on Earth, comb jellies are the least related to humans.
Anita - "Zip is dead"
Data Downloads › Colonists
Zip is dead. Not just reprinted. Dead. We all saw how she suffered. The metal poisoning...her hands trembled, her gums turned blue. She was always cold. We thought her visits to the hot caves were therapeutic. Sophie let her get away with it. Everyone loves Zip. But one day she did not return. Two days. Three. We could hear her blackbox crying her death, down at the bottom of the cave. Why wouldn't NoA reprint her? On the fourth day, Sleep Bay 3 printed a new copy of Tziporah Malk. She was not our Zip. She remembered nothing since the day she boarded the Cicada. Chap says NoA 'reset her' to her 'last known good state'. I am aghast. We are contracted to work off a debt to Alterra. But any debt society needs the promise of a jubilee. The trumpet-blast of freedom, when all is forgiven. Old kings in Babylon declared jubilee when they took the throne, lest the people rebel. But now our king can reset the calendar on the day before the jubilee. Nahema is right! We are slaves. I must know what is down in that hot cave. I believe NoA fears it, and killed Zip to hide it. I believe the Jubilee is out there somewhere, in this ocean — a better way to survive.
Anita 02
Data Downloads › Black Boxes
Blackbox: Gottschall, Anita "Anita" 02 Parsing blackbox data. Outputting natural language report. Anita died of drowning caused by sedation. Her lungs contained elevated levels of xenon, which is an anesthetic. Anita had advanced lead poisoning and severe viremia. Anita died surrounded by her colleagues. They did not intervene to prevent her drowning. Anita died about 230,000 hours ago. Anita’s blackbox transmitted her to an unknown biobed. The reprint process was not supervised by a Noetic Advisor node. Anita's status cannot be determined from this blackbox.
Are we becoming animals?

GANZO: Huh? Wh...ow. TWINKLE: Oh, thank God. I thought I'd killed you. GANZO: You hit me with the Tadpole! TWINKLE: And then I had to sedate you. You thought Ruby was in that cave. You ccould hear her blackbox. I couldn't hold you back. GANZO: She needed me to help her. She was sick... TWINKLE: Ganzo, I heard it too. GANZO: She was real? And you stopped me — TWINKLE: No. It wasn't real. But I heard it. Think about it. GANZO: Oh...oh no. You too? You've been in the water long enough... TWINKLE: Yeah. Me too. [big breath] Well, at least I'll get to hear the same voices you do. I don't have to be scared of you any more. GANZO: Scared of me. Is that why you had a tank of xenon ready to tranquilize me? TWINKLE: I am scared of you all the time, Ganzo. You are a sick man who could kill me with his bare hands. GANZO: Hey. You could kill me too. We're tool users. TWINKLE: For now. We're turning into...into animals, aren't we? Both of us. GANZO: Okay. Well...let's talk about it. Let's figure out what to do. Animals can be good to each other. Animals communicate. Even the ugly ones. TWINKLE: [laughing] GANZO: I didn't mean you. TWINKLE: I know. You don't mean me.

Basic First Aid Kit
Tools
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS Equip to quick-access toolbelt or store in inventory. Use to regain health. BACKGROUND A satchel of emergency medical supplies derived from TSF Frontiersmen front-line trauma kits. The medkit is designed to self-apply: you never know when you'll end up the last one standing. Because blackbox implants and biobeds can provide long-term care, the medkit is intended to keep you moving and working long to enough to escape a dangerous situation or complete a difficult task. The kit supplies seals, painkillers, hemostatic dressings, temporary tourniquets, conformal splints, fluid transfusions, nerve bridges, needle pumps, spray flesh, stimulants, and other rapid effectors. The medkit may aggravate long-term injury in order to achieve short-term performance. Health is equity, and modern medicine gives you the confidence to leverage that equity in the pursuit of success. *"The emergency medkit: now your health is a renewable resource."*
Beacon
Tools
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS Marks its position with a signal on your HUD. Useful as a warning, mapping tool, or reminder for further exploration. Construct or deconstruct with habitat builder tool. Interact to rename signal. Pick up to carry. BACKGROUND The "Liuhe Deluxe" dual-mode radioacoustic beacon is a classic, robust navigational aid for pioneers. The beacon broadcasts a VHF radio signal above water and an acoustic pulse when submerged. —Construct with builder tool to mark points of interest and navigational references —Maintains neutral buoyancy with air bladders —Rename or disable beacon remotely with PDA signals tab "The 六和 Liuhe Deluxe: six degrees of precision."
Biobed - Enhanced Reprints
Data Downloads › Personal Messages
Welcome to my special clinic. The metal is giving everyone tremors. Sophie says "Don't treat it, I need a clear timeline of nerve breakdown." I say I cannot afford clumsy workers. This bed will reprint you with improved fine motor skills and muscle memory. No more fumbling around for your tools. It will delay the symptoms for a while. Just don't tell the boss. Let's help her pretend she doesn't know. —Mantis
Bioscanner
Tools
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS Scan Axum technology to generate repair or fabrication blueprints. Scan living targets to unlock new biomods. BACKGROUND The Protean ocean contains huge amounts of dissolved metal ions and viral DNA. Protean life has evolved to use one to identify the other. The bioscanner hosts metal-eating bacteria which produce a robust beet odor and trillions of metallic marker proteins. In the wild, these markers bind to viral DNA, allowing the bacteria to incorporate or reject it. In the bioscanner, these markers are broadcast to the target by the scan field. —In living targets, the markers bind to Protean DNA, allowing the scanner to conduct advanced analytic biochemistry and generate new biomods —In Axum targets, the markers bind to circuits, transistors, and bacterial fibers for functional analysis of Axum technology The difficulty of analyzing alien biochemistries in digital simulation may have contributed to the extinction of the Architect civilization. Perhaps they lacked friendly beet-flavored bacteria.
Blackbox Distress Cluster
Investigations
Distress signal cluster recorded south-west of Habitat. Exact location undetermined. Analysis of pre-emergency audio communications suggests:
Celestine
Geological Data
Celestine (strontium sulfate, SrSO4). A crystalline mineral and useful source of strontium. Celestine dissolves quickly in seawater, but certain microorganisms synthesize it as a shell or ballast. Local deposits must be the skeletons left by dead colonies of these organisms. The colonies may have overgrown on an artificial strontium source, then died off when the source was removed. Strontium (Sr), element 38, is a soft and highly reactive metal with applications in radiothermal power generation. Strontium on this planet contains elevated levels of Strontium-90, a highly radioactive, bone-seeking isotope which poses a long-term health risk to human colonists. Strontium-90 is only produced in nuclear fission reactions.

The upper observatory tower has been extensively modified. —Original structure reinforced with corrosion-resistant high-temperature alloys —Low-voltage, long-duration internal power supply added: probably radiological —Sensors and digital computers installed These changes probably occurred more than a thousand years after the observatory's original construction.
Subnautica 2 PDA Overview
The Subnautica 2 PDA records story logs, scan notes, and research context that define what you have discovered so far. This Subnautica 2 PDA database focuses on searchable databank entries with section paths and scan timing where available.
When a Subnautica 2 PDA entry maps to a creature or building profile, you can jump directly to gameplay pages to connect lore context with crafting, base, and survival decisions.
How Subnautica 2 PDA Entries Are Organized
Use search and section filters to isolate one storyline, biome, or species cluster, then read Subnautica 2 PDA entries in that scope. Linked pages let you move from databank text to item, building, or creature stats without breaking progression flow.
Why Subnautica 2 PDA Data Matters
Subnautica 2 PDA information is practical progression data, not only flavor text. It helps you time scans, identify unlock context, and verify whether your next objective should be exploration, blueprint unlocks, or material preparation.
Subnautica 2 PDA FAQ
Are PDA entries gameplay data or lore text?
Mostly databank narrative and scan context. When gameplay-linked pages exist, use the direct link from each entry to compare lore with practical stats and recipes.
Why do some entries not show scan duration?
Scan duration is shown only when the game data explicitly defines it for that specific entry.
